Brief Biography:

Korkut is the youngest of Mehmet the Conqueror’s four sons. He is the only child of Anna Hatun, the daughter of the Emperor of Trebizond, who was briefly Mehmet II’s concubine. His elder brother, Cem, was born of Çiçek Hatun, another of the royal concubines, with their eldest brother, Beyazit, the son of Valide Sultan Amina, the principal wife.

Korkut knew that, with his lack of ambition, he would amount to little in life, and chose to throw his lot in with his elder brother, Prince Cem’s, claim to the throne after their father’s death. After losing a brief civil war, he was exiled from the Empire, and, like Cem, became a prisoner of western powers.

He is a wary and proud character, some say even priggish. Even though he shares his brother Cem’s good looks, he is not as universally well-liked. His delicate tastes compel him to take a negative view of the world, especially of the musty European courts through which he has been dragged for the better part of a decade. He married the young daughter of Iskender Reis Paşa, an admiral loyal to his brother, Cem, though the frivolous Ezel Hatun made a poor match for the scrupulous prince-in-exile.

OOC: Korkut is historically a son of Mehmet the Conqueror; whether he really joined his brother's cause, we do not know. It is true that he, too, was exiled from the Empire, but aside from that, history remains silent on his fate.

What is everyone's opinion on the name Korkut? It's certainly unusual to my ears...

I like the name. It sounds well in my head and in the way I read it whether in Portuguese or English.

I also am curious about this concubine and all his relationship with Ezel.

The English pronunciation would be roughly kor-koot, with equal stress on both syllables.
